March 15th 2016
The events of 1916 were commemorated by Clonaghadoo NS staff, pupils and local community at a special mass in St. Marys Church on Proclamation Day - 15th March.
The theme of the mass was 'Celebrating our Irishness.'
Symbols including the national flag , an Irish book, a tin whistle and Irish Dancing were presented at the beginning of the Mass. Pupils recited extracts from poems associated with The Rising and a modern version of the Proclamation, written by the children was read as a communion reflection. The school choir sang beautiful Irish Hymns and other pupils played traditional pieces on violins, tin whistles and flutes. After mass the National Flag was raised at the school by two sixth class pupils in the presence of the school community. A great day to remember was had by all. Please feel free to browse through our slideshow documenting the day.
We have been busy preparing for our 1916 Commemoration Day.
