Congratulations
A huge congratulations and well done to some of our past pupils.
- Aoife Dunne, Saoirse Guinan and Aoife Hughes have been selected for the Laois U16 football team.
- David Dooley now plays for the U19 Irish Rugby Team.
- Leah Tarpey and Caoimhe Guinan played on the U19 Rugby team for Leinster. Leah has now made the supply panel for Ireland.
- 4 of our past pupils have also been picked for the Laois minor football team - Aaron Tarpey, Adam Hunt, Niall Lalor, Rory Lalor.

Well done to our camogie team who performed brilliantly in their semi-final v Knock NS. All the panel trained so hard and showed wonderful skills and determination losing out narrowly to an excellent Knock team. We had super support and we are sure the team will be back even stronger next year.

School tour for Junior Infants up to Second Class in Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park

Lots of fun was had today. Children recited poems, sang songs, played music and did some Irish Dancing. Check it all out below.
World Book Day 2019
Lots of fun was had today.
1. The children dressed up as their favourite character.
2. We had a book swap for children and parents.
3. There was plenty of D.E.A.R. time throughout the day.
4. The senior classes had quizzes.
5. The children all filled in Character Profiles for their chosen character.
6. We had a brilliant storyteller Frances, who told the most fantastic stories from Irish heritage.

Santa came to visit us in Clonaghadoo. There was great excitement when he arrived.
As always the performance at the Old Folks Home in Mountmellick was a huge success. It was enjoyed by young and old alike.
A huge thank you to all involved in the Carol Service - teachers, parents, parents council, Eddie (drumming), Antoinette (choir), Annette Dalton and most of all the children. They were fantastic on the night and should be very proud of their performance!

Jersey Day was a huge success with funds raised going to Kilcavan G.A.A. Club and Clongahadoo N.S. Thanks to all who contributed.

The Chrstmas Carol Service will be on Monday 17th December at 7pm. It will be held in the Church beside the school. All are very welcome.
A huge thank you to all who contributed to the Ken Smollen food appeal, there was a huge collection made and it is going to very worthy families.
As always the Christmas Shoe Box was a huge success. Thank you to all who contributed.

We would like to wish Mrs. Whelan all the best in the future. Mrs. Whelans retirement mass was held today with refreshments at the school afterwards. It was a fantastic day for all. We would like to give a huge thank you to all who helped out and contributed on the day, including past pupils, Antoinette Dickinson, Eddie with the drumming, Leona and the Irish dancers and George Furey. The staff of Clonaghadoo N.S. would like to thank the Parents Council in particular as they put in an immense amount of work. They voluntarily gave up their time and worked tirelessly throughout the day. Without them it would not have run as smoothly as it did. The work put in by all did not go unnoticed and was very much appreciated.

This week (15th October) is Maths week and we have been very busy here in Clonaghadoo doing all things Maths related. Keep an eye out for all the photos to come........
Important Dates to remember:
Friday 19th October - cake sale, all goodies greatly appreciated as this helps teach the children about the concept of money in a fun and interesting manner. It has been a huge success in previous years.
Thursday 25th October - Retirement Mass for Mrs. Whlean. Parents, Grandparents and past pupils are all welcome. Mass is at 1 o'clock in Clonaghadoo Church.
We are taking part in the Ken Smollen food appeal again this year. The donations last year were fantastic and we are hoping this year will be the same. Non perishable foods only (beans, peas, coffee, tea, pasta, soup etc...)
Offaly Rose
Katie Kehoe, the new Offaly Rose came to visit us in Clonaghadoo. We were all very excited to see her and very proud of her achievement. Katie spent six weeks with us here on Teaching Practice and we couldn't be more pleased for her. Congrats Katie and we wish you the very best of luck in Kerry in August!!

Huge congratulations to all the second class who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday 20th May. Thanks to all who participated in the service.

Junior, Senior Infants and 1st class took part in Gymnastics this year. It was a fantastic experience for all involved. They were able to travel into the hall in Mountmellick for their final class. A great time was had by all!!

Catholic Schools Week 2018
Clonaghadoo boys and girls went all out for Catholic Schools Week. It included songs, prayers, poems and a re-inaction of the story of St. Brigid. Thanks to all involved!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
1. We have been very busy these last few weeks. Families made great contributions to the Christmas Shoe Box appeal this year. A big thanks to the families of Clonagahdoo N.S. for their generous contributions.
2. We raised 250 eur for the Ken Smollen Food Appeal. Ken works tirelessly travelling around the midlands giving to those less fortunate. A very worthy charity!
3. Huge congrats to all involved in the Carol Service. It was a credit to all the children who gave it their all on the night.

Huge thanks to all who donated and baked for our cake sale. We raised a massive 400 euro this year. The hard work of parents and children really paid off and the homeless in Offaly and Laois will benefit from the superb effort. It is greatly appreciated.
We also linked it in with Maths week, so a big well done to 6th class for using the topic of money throughout the day of the sale. They drove hard bargains!!!

Maroon Day at Clonaghadoo N.S.
Clonaghadoo went all maroon for the arrival of Laois Today on Thursday 28th. We were out in all our colours in support of the Kilcavan team who are in the county final on Saturday 30th September. Best of luck boys!!!!

We celebrated the theme of 'Our Common Home' this year with a prayer service in the Church. Every class also did beautiful art work around the theme.

The Parents Council are again hosting their annual coffee morning and raffle on Sunday 11th December 2016. It will be held at 11.15 am in the school.
Tickets are available from the school or any member of the Parents Council. Tickets must be returned by Thursday 8th December 2016.
Raffle items/hampers can be given to a member of staff before Thursday 8th December.
All the support given each year is very much appreciated
Please note that Ballybrittas Christmas Tree Depot has kindly offered to again donate €10 to Clonaghadoo N.S. for every tree purchased from their depot. Trees start at 35eur.

We hope you all have an enjoyable summer.
6th Class teamed up with the Infants for an orienteering activity. They enjoyed working as a team in this fun activity which was also some revision of work covered previously.
We wish our 6th class all the best. They enjoyed their last tour to the Dáil and The National Aquatic Centre.
The Infants had a great day on their tour also.

A huge congratulations to 6th class who organised the 'Bring and Buy' Sale today. It was a great success raising 600 euro for charity.
A big thanks to all the parents/families who sent in items for the sale.
Thank you also to Robert McManus from the 'Cake House' in Clonaghadoo for providing a spectacular oreo cake which was the prize in the raffle and thanks to all the families who also baked.
A great day was had by all the children and a lot of purchases were made!!

Upcoming Events
1 - Sixth Class are organising a Bring and Buy/Cake Sale on Wednesday 16th December. This year the proceeds will go to Nurse Helen Lawlor, Mountmellick who is bringing help and medical supplies to the refugees in Calais. In the past few years the pupils have fund raised for different charities including the Orphanage in Zambia and the Midland Simon Community.
2 - The school Christmas Mass, including the Nativity Play will be on Tuesday 15th December at 2pm. Ms Ryan has sent home a note re everything needed.
3 - The pupils from 3rd to 6th class will perform Christmas Carols and music in Clonaghadoo Church at 7.30pm on Thursday 17th Decemebr.
4 - The coffee morning and raffle organised by the Parents Council will take place in the school hall on Sunday 13th December after 10.30 a.m Mass. More details to follow on this event.

Congratulations to the first debating team from Clonaghadoo N.S: Gráinne Lalor, Aoife Daly and Caoimhe Guinan.
They successfully carried the motion 'Children know how to use the internet safely.' This debate was held against St. Patrick's Boys School Portarlington. They now go on to the next round of 'Primary Debating Ireland.'

There was a fantastic response from all the pupils for the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Representatives from the Hope Foundation collected the boxes on Thursday 12th and presented the school with a certificate of appreciation. We know that the boxes will bring much joy to the boys and girls in Africa and Eastern Europe.

We had great success when the book fair came to Clonaghadoo. There was huge interest from the boys and girls. Lots of books were purchased.

Upcoming events for June 2015
The following are some important upcoming events for June:
*Open day for new Junior Infants - Friday 12th June at 1pm.
*School Sports Day - Monday 22nd June (weather permitting) Please be mindful of our policy about taking photos of other peoples children.
*End of Year Mass - Tuesday 23rd June at 2pm. All are welcome. Junior and Senior Infants should be collected at the school before mass.
School closes for the Summer on Friday the 26th at 12 noon and re opens for the pupils on Thursday the 27th of August.

Christmas Mass will begin at 1.30pm sharp on Wednesday 17/12/2014.
Junior and Senior Infants can be collected after the mass from their classroom in school. This is to save any confusion in the church and for the safety of the children. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

The Christmas Concert is taking place this Thursday 11th December.
Parents/Grandparents are welcome to stay for the whole concert or they may stay for just one section. i.e. either Junior/Senior. As each class finishes their performance, the pupils will be brought back to their classroom to watch a DVD. Parents who wish to collect Junior/Senior Infant pupils may do so at Ms. Ryan's room after the Junior performance or after the Senior performance.

- Senior section (2nd class - 6th class) from 1.15pm - 3pm.
