To start our new school year, we created this honeycomb art. Each of us designed and decorated our part of the honeycomb with our name and things we enjoy on it. Have a look below!
In art we created 'Pop Art Self Portraits'. They turned out fantastic and were a lot of fun to do!
We also did an 'Autobiographical Name Art' lesson which was where we used our hobbies and interests to create an original artwork of our name. Our interests and hobbies took the form of the letters. Here are some examples...
October
We learned about the colour wheel in art and created this umbrella.
This month our school participated in 'Food Dudes'. Each day for 5 days we ate fresh fruit and vegetables. They were yummy!
In History we learned about schools and education in the past. We researched and completed projects. Have a look at some of them below!
Halloween Fun On the last day of school before mid-term we dressed up for Halloween. We also visited Molly's Pumpkin Patch where we learned the process of how pumpkins grow. We also got to explore the patch.
November
We had a fun start back to school after mid-term with a visit from Professor Messer! He did many cool and interesting experiments with each class and we really enjoyed it.
Science Week 2023
As part of Science Week we went to Mountmellick Library for Science experiments. We learned all about the PH Scale and what an acid and a base is. We got to carry out an experiment ourselves and it was really fun!
December
We had a very busy month of December in preparation for our Christmas concert. Here is a picture of 4th- 6th Class students performing in St. Vincent's hospital Mountmellick.
January
Cathal started rugby training in our school this month. We have been really enjoying it. Check us out in action below!
February
We made St. Brigid's Day crosses out of rushes as part of our Confirmation challenge.
Once complete we left the St. Brigid's Day crosses along with a prayer in our church for the community to bring home.
March
We celebrated World Book Day on the 7th of March. We dressed up as characters from our favourite books. Francis Harney also came to our classroom to tell us a story it was really enjoyable!
Lá Glas
We dressed up for Lá Glas and performed songs in Irish for the school. We listened to all the other classes perform too. It was a great day!
