In Art we made pictures from The Famine including coffin ships, cottages, workhouses and soup kitchens We used black chalk and some fabric to create these masterpieces! Check out some of them below.
Maths Week 2020
For Maths Week this year we held an in class competition. This was called 'Have You Got Maths Eyes'. At home, we took pictures of maths that we could see in our environment or around us. We came up with a question to go with that picture and sent it to our class blog on Seesaw. On the last day of Maths Week, we got to look at all the entries and answered the questions. We had some fantastic entries so well done to all! A special well done to Jack in 5th Class and Lily in 6th Class who were our winning entries and to runners up Rian and Katie.
We also participated in some maths trails this week. This encouraged us to look for maths in our school environment and to record it.
Finally, we played some maths games. Here are pictures of us playing Mathopoly. It got very competitive!

We also tested whether sound travels best through air or liquid. We blew up one balloon normally and with the other we filled it with water. With a plastic ruler we tapped both balloons while we held them to our ear and recorded our investigations!
Finally, for Science week each classroom demonstrated an experiment for the other classes over Zoom. This was the experiment 5th and 6th Class did. We showed how a balloon can be inflated using vinegar and baking soda!
Christmas Performances
World War 1
We created silhouette art based on World War I. Have a look below!
We listened and responded to the poem 'On Flanders Fields' which was written during World War I in 1915 by John McCrae. We wrote our own war poems. Have a look at some examples below.
In groups we each took a year from the war and created projects. This will be displayed as a timeline in our classroom.
